The G7 summit is going on in Canada. All representatives of G7 countries are in Alberta Canada as part of the summit where they discuss global and regional issues. Before it was G8 but after removal of Russia, now it’s called G7. Even hosting countries can invite non-member countries as a guest and Canada acting as a host has also invited other countries which include the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, South Africa, Australia, Mexico, South Korea, and Ukraine. Usually, countries are represented by heads of state which are presidents or Prime ministers. This is the 51st G7 summit which is held in Canada and will be chaired by Canadian prime minister Mark Carney.
US President Donald Trump was the first one to leave the summit and it was cut short as a result of the ongoing Israel-Iran escalation. US defense secretaries have cited that they have increased their military capability to create their defense posture in conflict areas but they have denied the question if they have joined Israel’s led attacks on Iran. During the summit, Donald Trump made a deal with the United Kingdom on trade. But the interesting point from the summit was, that the G7 was divided on different issues whether Ukraine-Russia or Trade or Iran-Israel matters.
