Lahore:
Pakistan has decided to extend its airspace ban for Indian-operated flights until August 24, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced on Friday.
As per the latest Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued, no Indian commercial, civilian, or military aircraft—whether operated, owned, or leased by Indian entities—will be allowed to fly through Pakistani airspace. The restriction came into effect at 3:50 PM IST on July 18 and is scheduled to remain until 5:19 AM IST on August 24.
This is not a new development. The airspace restrictions began on April 24, following escalating tensions between the two countries in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. In response, India imposed similar airspace restrictions on Pakistani aircraft, which are in place until July 24.
These tit-for-tat measures have been extended multiple times since their initial implementation. There’s no official word yet on when either side might ease these restrictions.
